Following treatment for breast cancer, my body was in desperate need of strengthening & detoxifying. Yoga allowed me to reintroduce movement & cardio options that were not too intense and allowed me to work at a level that I was at. As my body began to unwind so did my mind & yoga provided the tools to help me accept the challenges I had recently faced, but also the confidence to take on what life still had in store for me.
I love the pranayama techniques that are able to clear our busy minds & settle our nerves. Regular practice has taught me to let go of things, connect to my true self & live a more positive, calm & happy life. I enjoy having a laugh in class, not taking myself too seriously. Attending regular classes has given me the opportunity to connect with likeminded people who have become great friends.
Inspiration for me to teach comes from noticing the mental & physical changes that happened in my life & wanting to share these techniques with others. We all lead busy sometimes stressful lives, & yoga has shown me how to be able to address these issues in a more calm, positive way. I feel very privileged to have found a passion that I am able to share with others.
Yoga is for everybody regardless of age, size or fitness level. I often hear people say that they can’t do yoga as they are not flexible enough – however we practice yoga to become more flexible; both within our minds and our bodies. Stick with it as there is so much more to yoga than just the physical aspect. You will always feel better after a yoga class.
